Sovay, Sovay all on a day She dressed herself in man's array With a brace of pistols all by her side To meet her true love to meet her true love she did ride. And as she was a-riding over the plain She met her true love, ring on his hand and she said STOP Your gold and silver kind sir she said And if you do not, and if you do not, your life I'll have. He offered all his gold and stones And yet she craved for one thing more That diamond ring, that diamond ring you wear Oh hand it over, oh hand it over and your life I'll spare. Oh that golden ring a token is My life I'll lose the ring I'll save. Being tender-hearted just like a dove She rode away she rode away from her true love. Oh next morning in the garden green Just like true lovers they were seen Oh he spied his watch hanging by her clothes And it made him blush made him blush like any rose. Oh what makes you blush at so silly a thing I thought to have had your golden ring It was I that robbed you all on the plain So here's your watch here's your watch and your gold again. I did intend and it was to know If that you were me true love or no For if you'd have give me that ring she said I'd have pulled the trigger I'd have pulled the trigger and shot you dead.

about

“When Karen Ann and Mariana sing, a third voice appears” -- Bob Worrall, master piper, Canada.

The album 'Mantras Celtas', Trelew's second record, was a personal debt for the singers, Karen Ann and Mariana Padron. The two were known in South American celtic music circles for their intricate, yet powerful vocal arrangements. Yet they'd never recorded together.

In 2010 Karen Ann invited Mariana to begin singing and playing on a regular basis with her band, Trelew. A multi-instrumentalist, Mariana also played bandoneon, the notoriously difficult accordian-style instrument closely associated with tango music.

Mantras Celtas--Celtic Mantras in Spanish--is an album of carefully selected traditional songs from the British Isles with original arrangements by the band. Includes themes of 'mouth music', an old celtic tradition of a cappella singing.
